My son was convicted of having 2 pictures in his phone his girlfriend (17) sent him from Illinois showing one of her breasts. He was put on the registry for 10 years and spent 2 years in jail. That was 2017. He has since married and has 3 children . His compliance officer was not putting the information he provided like where he started a job , a new job when he changed jobs , the vin numbers when he bought a new car . The officer caused him to be 2 days late paying his yearly supervision fee and only met up with him after he sent an email stating to the officer ” this way I have proof I tried to pay since you have not returned my messages for 2 weeks. The real problem is ongoing now, 3 officers showed up doing a compliance check in the county we live in and arrested him for not reporting one car. I was with him when he reported it . An officer who did not come here went to the court clerk swearing he came here at 12pm arrested my son and left at 12:05. This officer committed perjury as he was not here. He also had not put anything in the computer my son had reported to him. That officer has been fired for not doing his job but the prosecutor refused to drop the charges . He offered my son a plea deal of 2 years probation but took that back after he said he made a mistake and my son would have to serve 1 year and 1/4 year for this violation. My son said he wanted to take it to trial because he is innocent, the prosecutor filed a motion to enhance the sentence because he rejected the plea bargain. My son’s lawyer says the prosecutor will not turn over evidence to get ready for trial. The prosecutor knows the officer was fired for not doing his job but refused to even talk with my son or drop the charges. He has a wife and 3 small children 5 and under who depend on him. No one cares if they lose their home, go on welfare or what will happen to his family, all because a police officer deliberately caused men on the registry to violate. 12 men were arrested the same day, all for not reporting something according to the other officer who did not do his job. We have already paid $3000 and lawyers want $3000 more. All this takes from his family.
