The Palm Beach Post reported yesterday that a 32 year old man who last year plead guilty to the lewd or lascivious battery of a 12-year-old died while in a medium-security lockup. Authorities are investigating the cause of his death.
The number of reported deaths behind bars of people convicted or accused of these offenses is growing. If you have a loved one in custody, you might want to consider contacting the Florida Department of Corrections, 501 South Calhoun Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399-2500 to ask what is being done to address this concern.
