Twelve years ago my mother was convinced of a sexual offense. She was a teacher and had an inappropriate relationship with a 16 year old boy. I am now 14 years old and at the beginning of my 8th grade year. I started getting bullied and harassed from students at my school. I have moved to two different schools; nothing helps.
People have even made videos, memes, and nicknames about my mom. My mom served her time and even got off of probation early for good behavior. I love my mom and I don’t want my little brother to go through what I am going through. I recently attempted suicide. I can’t live like this much longer. If I don’t. I want everyone to know the registry is to blame.

I got accused of a sex crime while at a university 10 years ago. Thanks to this charge I got kicked out of the university. I ended up taking a plea deal which kept me off the registry. I believe the registry should be police only and not available to the general public. That way those forced to register can get back to their lives after paying their debt to society. Just because your mom did something years ago doesn’t mean she will offend again.
And you are not a bad person just because someone related to you wound up on the wrong end of the legal system in the past. Take a look at Norway’s legal system. They stress rehabilitation instead of endless punishment and as a result their re-offense rate is below America’s. Stay strong kid were gonna get through this together. Your not alone in this your never alone.
